Roland EG-101 Groove Arranger Keyboard

The instrument

The EG-101 is a groove arranger keyboard with 49 velocity-sensitive keys, D-beam controller with 36 effects, arpeggiator and portamento. It is 24-voice polyphonic, 11-fold multitimbral and has three operating modes: RPS, Arranger and Whole Keyboard. What Yamaha introduced with the DJX, Roland wanted to improve with the EG-101.

Details

The sound generator offers 12 fixed drum kits and 448 dance sounds with adjustable filter cutoff and resonance, as well as audio effects. The arranger supports 64 user memories with four variations each, alternatively 64 8-RPS phrases can be used as accompaniment. The sampler is polyphonic with a maximum of 4 voices and can handle 16 samples at 7.81 KHz (128 seconds, Lo-Fi) or 31.25 KHz (32 seconds). Trigger level, pitch shift, time stretch, LoPass filter with resonance, ring modulator, auto-looping, truncate and separate volume control are available for processing. The realtime parameters are cutoff, resonance, panpot, part volume, reverb time and reverb level. The 2 x 15 watt amplifier has a 2-way bass reflex system.
