Studer Revox T 26 Tube Tape Recorder

In 1951, ELA AG, founded by Willi Studer, launched its first tape recorder T26 - a modified version of the Dynavox - in four different versions. The most expensive model (T26-M) was a luxury floor-standing version and cost the then very proud price of 1,620 Swiss francs. A maximum of 2000 of these appliances were built. Willi Studer initially adapted the technology of imported Brush Soundmirror tape recorders for the European market and then started his own production with the slightly modified Dynavox.

The T 26 is a single-motor device and runs at a speed of 19.05 cm/s. With its five amplifier tubes and a total weight of 18 kg, it is an extremely stable construction. One feature was the large 24 cm diameter reels, which could hold almost 731 metres of tape and allowed an uninterrupted playing time of one hour.
