Studer Revox D 36 Tube Tape Recorder

Studer Revox 36 D Tube Tape Recorder

The instrument

The ReVox D 36 was Studer's first stereo tape recorder for 2- and 4-track recording. Compared to its predecessor, the C 36, the amplifier for stereo recording and playback was redesigned. Other new features included DC-heated preamplifiers and an oscillator for erasing and pre-magnetisation with driver stages for 70 kHz, as well as 2-track stereo tape heads. Alongside Willi Studer, engineer Guido Besima played a key role in the development of this device. The models were produced with serial numbers 15001 to 21000.

Details

An additional amplifier was available for the built-in 6-watt speaker amplifier to expand the system into a complete stereo system. The separate recording and playback amplifiers enabled stereo recordings with two microphones.
