Korg ES-50 Lambda Polyphonic Ensemble Synthesizer

The instrument

The Lambda ES-50 polyphonic ensemble synthesizer is an ensemble keyboard with 42 keys and a wide range of sound colours and effects. The sounds are divided into the sound groups Percussive and Ensemble. Its predecessor at Korg is the PE 2000 ensemble keyboard, while the Delta polyphonic synth and the Sigma monophonic preset synth were released at the same time.

Details

The Lambda ES-50 is fully polyphonic It has 12 main oscillators, one each for the notes of the chromatic scale. These are divided down (divide down) to create the other octaves. The ES-50 is also equipped with 3 oscillators per tone and offers the possibility of detuning them against each other. Two envelopes and a VCA are assigned to each key.
The Lambda has two sound-generating sections and two sound-shaping sections. The percussive instruments contain the sounds electric piano, piano, clav and harmonics as well as assigned sustain, decay and tremolo. The Ensemble instruments offer Brass, Organ, Chorus as well as String I and String II, also with vibrato effect. The presets can be mixed within and between the sections. The chorus phase effect, a mixture of chorus and phaser, is generated via a modulated BBD delay. (Source: amazona)
