The instrument
The DR-220A is a digital drum computer with 12-bit PCM samples and LCD matrix sequencer. Two 220 versions were launched, the DR220A with acoustic drum samples and the DR220E with a more electronic-oriented drum sample set. The DR-220 is based on the earlier DR-110 (1983).
Details
The DR-220 has 11 PCM synthesizer voices with a resolution of 12 bits. Up to 16 steps are displayed. There are 32 built-in patterns and another 32 that are programmed by the user. The patterns can be combined into a song of up to 128 bars. The tempo is set manually between 40 and 250 bpm.
