The instrument
The TX802 Tone Module is one of the second generation DX synthesizers. It is the successor to the TX7 module and the rack version of the DX7II synthesizer keyboard. The synthesizer is 16-voice polyphonic, with half that polyphony when layering and splitting sounds.
Details
Compared to the keyboard versions, the TX802 has an 8-channel MIDI multimode instead of a 2-channel, stereo and single outputs. It features the 16-bit sound from the DXII series, 128 ROM presets with the option for a further 64 in RAM, which can also manage 64 multis. Unlike its predecessor, the TX7, the TX802 has a cartridge slot.
