Erica Synths Bullfrog Drums

Released in May 2026 by the popular Latvian brand Erica Synths, the Bullfrog Drums is a follow-up to the Bullfrog synthesizer, both designed with minimal techno artist Richie Hawtin "to inspire and welcome a younger audience into the world of electronic music". The Bullfrog Drums combines a 909-style drum machine, a sampler and a CV/gate sequencer in format optimized for learning drum programming, sampling and performance techniques.

The Bullfrog Drums features 7 sample-based drum voices, 7 banks of samples by Richie Hawtin and the Erica Synths team, up to 16 banks of user samples, a line input and a built-in microphone for live sampling, a built-in speaker and many parameters for sample sound design and other sequencing and performance control. The sequencer, allowing for ratchets, probabilities and microtiming, can hold up to 64 step sequences and the internal memory can store up to 4 banks of 16 patterns each. The back panel also offers a variety of connections for either CV, MIDI, audio and digital signals.
