The instrument
During the development of the ReVox C 270 series, three different tape recorders were built: the C 270 for two channels, the C 274 for four channels on 1/4‘ tape and the C 278 for eight channels on 1/2’ tape for tape speeds of 9.5, 19 and 38 cm/s. The common design concept applied not only to the supporting structure for the chassis and housing, but also to the winding motors, sound motors, tape tension controls and microprocessors.
Details
In addition to mechanical and electronic stability, microprocessors played a special role in the C 270 series. The entire drive control and timing of the analogue audio electronics is controlled by software. The ReVox C270 machines offer professional features such as edit mode with one-hand cueing, trash can operation, fader start, built-in varispeed (-33% to +50%), Dolby HX Pro, 3-LED peak indicators, balanced inputs and outputs, and XLR audio connections.
