Roland JC-160 Jazz Chorus Solid-State Amplifier

The instrument

Roland Jazz Chorus is a series of solid-state instrument amplifiers manufactured by the Roland Corporation in Japan since 1975. The name comes from the built-in analog chorus effect. The series became popular in the new wave and post-punk scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s because it had a powerful sound, was durable and relatively inexpensive compared to the tube amps commonly used at the time, such as Marshall or Fender. The JC-120 was the first model in 1975, on which the other amplifiers were based. The JC-160 from 1976 has 120 watts and 4x10” speakers.
