Summary
The 2015 Korg SQ-1 is an analog step sequencer. It is based on the SQ-10 and forms a set with the MS-20M. Unlike its predecessor, it offers only 2x 8 steps with 2 gate tracks instead of 3–12. Two rows (A and B), each with 8 knobs and buttons, can be switched sequentially, operated in parallel, or used in dual mode for two separate synthesizers. It offers live functions such as Active Step for skipping steps during operation, Step Jump to trigger a stutter effect, and Slide with a smooth transition for acid basslines. In addition to analog CV/Gate outputs, the SQ-1 offers MIDI Out, USB-MIDI for DAWs, and Sync In/Out for syncing with Volcas or the Pocket Operator series.
